Paying for space you don’t use is wasted money, and squeezing into a unit that’s too small makes moving day hard work. Here’s a rough guide to what fits in each of our drive-up units at Mount Cotton.
Small: 2 × 1.3 m
About the size of a large walk-in cupboard. Good for:
- Archive boxes and business documents
- Seasonal gear such as camping equipment, Christmas decorations or sports gear
- A few small pieces of furniture, bikes or tools
Medium: 2 × 2 m and 3 × 2 m
Suits the contents of a room or a small unit. Good for:
- A bedroom or home office
- A studio or one-bedroom unit (3 × 2 m)
- Excess household items while you renovate or declutter
Large: 3 × 4.5 m and 3 × 6 m
Room for a household or business. Good for:
- The contents of a two- to four-bedroom home during a move
- Business stock, equipment and trade tools
- Larger items such as a trailer, boat or car (check the measurements first)
Tips for getting it right
- Make a quick list of your large items first. Furniture takes up more room than boxes.
- Stack boxes high. You’re paying for the floor space, so using the height makes the most of it.
- Leave a narrow walkway so you can reach things at the back.
- If you’re between two sizes, the larger one usually saves stress on the day.
